  • Hello There!

    I'm Sarajane, a blogger, workshop facilitator, and career consultant based out of Asheville, NC.

    I believe chasing your dreams shouldn't be so hard and I dedicate my energy to helping others to take large and small steps in their career while maintaining creative inspiration.

    This is my space to create whatever comes from my heart. It's not marketable, it's not always good, but it's honest. It's not uncommon to find stories from my experience, portrait projects, my thoughts on the world, and tips for how to make the most out of life.

    Grab a cup of coffee (or bourbon) and make yourself at home!

    If you're interested in a workshop or a 1 on 1 consultation get in touch through the consultation tab at the top of this site!

    with love,

The Journey to Being a Kinder, More Independent, and More Vivacious Individual! {Asheville, NC Boudoir Photographer}

I used to post my personal and business goals at the beginning of every month. They were my little to-do lists that had more to do with accomplishing tasks then anything else. I did it mainly for accountability. The idea that I would have to answer to my lovely blog readers if I didn’t accomplish a certain task I’d laid out.

That served me well for a while. But, it ended up not feeling quite right for my blog.

At the beginning of this month, I wrote myself a personal list. Not a task list as much as a list intended to stretch me.

I’m in a really large season of transition right now. I wanted to make sure that I was taking steps to become a more courageous person, a more open and liberated person, and someone who constantly chases after the things that draw her.

So, I thought that may be a little more fitting to what I want this blog to be about. I also thought it would be a great opportunity for me to challenge myself to a monthly self-portrait. I’ve been resistant to that for several reasons lately. But, there’s something about self-portraiture that helps you to see yourself as you are.

I haven’t taken one yet this month, but, I’ve used an older one from when I was doing regular self-portrait projects.

Don’t go hiking alone! It’s dangerous! Have you seen 127 hours? you’re just like your brother! I am going to have to tie you two to a chair! Love you, mean it!

Amanda Chapman - August 14, 2013 - 4:28 pm

I absolutely vote to hike alone, albeit safely! It’s my primary release. Will be glad to send you a list of tips if you’d like!

YESSSS! I think this is my number one reaction to everything, but you get my drift 🙂

I’m relocating to Asheville in November, if meeting (another) stranger for coffee is still on your list, I’d love for it to be me! : )

I love this idea and I love your list except for #9! Your hair is stunning.

New November! {Asheville, NC Boudoir Photographer} » My Website - November 5, 2013 - 4:04 pm

[…] If I’ve ever been in a time of transition it would be now. It seems as though every aspect of life is moving and rotating. A constant shift. There’s a certain degree of jumbling that is expected during these times. Big life moves are rarely easy. They’re rarely fun while you’re doing it. But, you push forward because you have to believe it’s worth it in the end. There was a time earlier in the year where it felt as though life were a chair lift. Slowly, steadily, and easily moving up. I was simply along for the beautiful, epic ride, up the giant mountain that was my life and my career. Now, It seems as though I’ve gotten off. I’m pushing through a foggy trek up the hill. Only able to take on what I can see right before me. One step at a time, slowly making it up the mountain. Less able to see the beauty that surrounds me. But, constantly aware that it exists beyond the fog. There are always options to not keep walking. I could stop and sit and wait. Hope the fog clears on its own. I could allow the fog to disorient me, falling down the mountain injured and broken at the bottom and further away from the goal. I could also run full sprint back to the start. Retreating from the unknown and back to what feels like safety. But, I think we both know that’s not me. I don’t think it’s any of us really. We’re all fighters in our own way. We just have different things that we’re fighting for. Recently, I wrote a blog post about the things I value most. The root of those are: Genuine and loving relationships, experiences, and happiness. These are the things I’m working for. The kind of life that breathes in and out love, that takes in new experiences, and seeks everyday to be happier and more aware of the good. One foggy step at a time. Now, here is my heart list for November. What’s a heart list? Read more about that here:  […]

I Have Struggled With My Appearance Since I was 10 Years Old… {Asheville, NC Boudoir Photographer}

When I began building my new website, I knew I wanted the voice of my clients to be heard. I have photographed some of the most amazing women. You have no idea! Them and their stories have meant so much to me. I couldn’t think of anything I’d want more than for all of them to have a place on my website. With that in mind. I’ve decided to also take the time to share their words here with you. They blew me away with their kindness and their way with words.

I am so blessed to know all of these women and to share their stories with you!

Adrienne and Josh 1 Year Anniversary Session! {Asheville, NC Photographer}

Adrienne and Josh came to Asheville for their anniversary. Right before dinner at the Grove Park I met up with them to do a celebratory photo shoot! I was all smiles the entire time. Adrienne and Josh are just lovely in front of the camera and great people to get to know as well! Don’t take my word for it, check their photos out for yourself!

Why I Shoot Boudoir! {Asheville, NC Boudoir Photographer}

I spent the majority of my life making apologies for my body. No, I’m not saying that I went up to every person saying things like, “I’m sorry for my body.” What I mean is, I spent a lot of time thinking about how it needed to change. If I was 10 pounds lighter, 20 pounds lighter, 30 pounds, etc. If I could just tone my arms or have smaller boobs. When I would get close to a guy I would eventually draw away. There was an ever-aching fear that there’s no way they could find me attractive and if they did, they certainly wouldn’t want to be seen dating me.

These thoughts are something I’m not excited to be sharing with you. They’re ugly and I’m not proud to have ever felt that way. But, they’re real.
They’re a reality for most women.
