My Thoughts on Girl-on-Girl Crime! {Asheville, NC Boudoir Photographer}

The quote from “Mean Girls” has been running through my mind lately. No, not what you’re thinking. I’m talking about the line where Ms. Norbury says, “There’s been some girl-on-girl crime here.”

Now, I have been richly blessed with the company of women that are just plain incredible over my years. Honestly, some of the most beautiful, kind, and amazing women in the world are dear friends of mine. They have filtered in and out of my life through different stages and have honestly made me the person that I am today.

That doesn’t mean that I haven’t had my fair of heart ache caused by women. Honestly, the majority of my heart ache in life has been caused by a friend.

Among some women there’s a sense of competition.
The need to have more than the others in whatever form that may be.

More attention, more possessions, more lovers, more whatever.

This is my brief thought for you.

There are plenty of men/women to attract out there. You don’t have to have them all.

There are plenty of shoes in the world, you don’t need to own them all.

There is a never-ending supply of attention, just share that limelight my dears.

Wouldn’t it be a beautiful world if we took the time to praise our girlfriends? To give them every opportunity to shine even brighter than ourselves at any given moment. To brag on them so they never feel the need to brag on themselves.

If we’re all taking the time to do that for one another, to approach our girlfriends with the same kind of tenderness that I hope we’re approaching ourselves with already.

Well, wouldn’t that just be a kinder, more beautiful way to live?

Ladies, I’ve experienced it. I know what it feels like to have friends that I want more for then myself and vice-versa. It’s beautiful.
I also know what it feels like to be a girl who doesn’t like girls. Someone who only hangs out with guys because it’s safer there.

I can honestly say, the love and connection with my girl friends has meant more to me than any afternoon spent wasting time with a group of guys just shooting the shit. {This does not include the lovely men in my life who have also opened up their dear hearts to me and mine to them. You know who you are and you are a piece of me forever as well.}

My simple plee is that we all take a moment to look around and take note of the beautiful people in our lives. To not see them as a competitor but rather to use ourselves as a stepping stone for the people we love.

with love,
