It’s been a while since I’ve written a “This is the Good Life” post. Actually I believe it hasn’t been since I updated the blog and website.
I have so much to be grateful for.
I believe so strongly in the importance of appreciating the little things.
So, it’s time I prove it.
Here are some things I’m particularly grateful for this week!
1. Long, quiet mornings.
Having the ability to get up early and start my day relaxed is something I’m very grateful for. Taking time to cook breakfast, read, breathe, and write. It’s the kind of thing worth getting out of bed for!
2. Sunrise Skies.
As many of you are aware, I moved last week into a new home. I now live with my lovely friends David and Scott in a swell place on S. French Broad. Every morning I wake up to the sunrise outside of my window. It’s one of the loveliest feelings to rise with the sun. It’s also the sort of peaceful feeling that has enveloped me since I moved in. My life feels cozier than ever. I’m very grateful for these fellas for letting a gal into their man space, for being fun to live with, for teaching me to use a saw and building me shelves.
3. Oak Hill on Love Lane.
From the moment I met Debi and Shell at Oak Hill on Love Lane I adored them. Debi and I hit it off right from the start and I couldn’t be more grateful to have them as friends and clients. I was so blessed to take photos their beautiful bed and breakfast last week. Not only was I able to do that, but, they welcomed me in for the night. Having that time was so needed last week. If you are looking for a vacation, please give them a visit!
4. My Best Friend.
So, there’s this girl in my life. I kind of love her. I loved her from the beginning and as we’ve grown and changed it’s been a beautiful thing to be completely myself with her. With a heart that sees without judgement and a laugh that will make you want to never leave her side, she’s basically amazing. This month she got engaged to someone that I love only slightly less than her. There’s a beauty in their souls. Something that I’m pretty sure will be too intense for the world once they’re married. It’s possible the Earth will explode upon their first kiss as husband and wife.
No family is perfect. But, there’s something beautiful about mine. The unconditional love that I’ve felt is unparalleled. I’ve never been allowed to beat myself up or feel inadequate. I’ve been loved and supported, allowed to fail, and encouraged to succeed. At a time in my life where I need just a little more affection than normal, they’ve been there for me, I’m reminded just how special it is to be seen as you are and loved anyway.
with love and the good life,
