If you follow me on Instagram or know me in real life, then you probably have a decent understanding of my relationship to coffee. For those of you who are new around here (welcome) I am a coffee lover in the most sincere way. I value the culture that surrounds it as well as the nuances of flavor in every cup.
I guess, I love having a ritual. Doing things in a certain way with great intention. Coffee and writing are my greatest rituals. So, when the lovely folks over at Coffee Crate offered to send me a box to write about, well, my little coffee loving, pen wielding self about passed out from sheer joy.
My favorite thing about Coffee Crate (other than their beautiful branding) is that they’re completely North Carolina focused. There are other coffee subscriptions out there, but, I haven’t experienced one totally focused on our sweet state until now.
My box came with three 4oz bags of coffee, a sweet treat from Yuzu Patisserie and an info sheet about each roaster.
I love the subscription box concept because it’s so easy to get stuck in the roasters that I already know. I’m particularly interested in the fact that we’ll be getting in touch with some of the smaller roasters in my home state.
I’m not going to lie, I am someone who likes coffee roasted a certain way. Some of you would say a coffee snob. But, I will say that I know my palate and what it prefers. It doesn’t mean I’m judging yours, I just know what I like. That made me a little bit nervous with the idea of having coffee delivered to me that may or may not be something I would purchase for myself.
But, isn’t that the point? It was really fun to try a different coffee everyday and to taste things that I really enjoyed even though they weren’t my normal roasters. It’s also important to remember that this is a coffee adventure and for it to be a true adventure, you’ve got to dive into the world of the unknown.
I for one, am always up for both coffee & adventures.
Check out Coffee Crate here, you can get a 1-month, 3-month, 6-month & 12-month subscription. They also make for great Christmas gifts.
